Winnetka is full of the holiday spirit! Here is what is going on in Winnetka during the month of December - so many festivities for all.
Friday, December 1st, 5:30 Winnetka Tree Lighting at Station Park. There will be carolers and other North Pole visitors. Enjoy a holiday story hour at The Bookstall before the tree lighting at 4:30, and head over to Little Ricky’s to warm up after the tree lighting! A true neighborhood event!
Saturday, December 2nd, 8:30am-10:30am enjoy Breakfast With Santa at The Winnetka Community House! Tickets are limited - register now.
The Winnetka Community House presents A Christmas Carol, December 2nd & 3rd. Make this classic a tradition for the whole family.
The 38th Annual Red Invitation takes place Sunday, December 3rd. Sponsored by the Winnetka-Northfield Chamber of Commerce and local businesses, this is a wonderful day of discounts at local shops and restaurants. Shop local for the holidays!
Monday, December 4th is full of wonderful workshops for all ages at the Winnetka-Northfield Public Library. Register to laser engrave a custom ornament, decorate a gingerbread house, or make tin can star lanterns.
Stroll through Candy Cane Lane in Hubbard Wood’s Park to enjoy trees decorated by different community groups and families. Presented by The Winnetka Park District, the display runs December 6th - January 2nd.
December 8th & 9th, take part in the “Holiday, Give, Sip & Shop” at participating Winnetka businesses. Just say “I am shopping for The Winnetka Youth Organization” and a percentage of your purchase will be donated to WYO. Santa will visit Hubbard Woods, Saturday, December 9th from 10-12. Along with Santa, there will be a trackless train, real reindeer and hot cocoa! Thank you Winnetka Park District!
‘Tis the season to give back and Sunday, December 10th is the day to do it. Join the staff of Winnetka Community House, Winnetka Youth Organization, Glencoe Youth Services, Wilmette Warming House and Haven Youth and Family Services for a day to care for The Night Ministry. This wonderful day of service is from 1pm-4pm at Winnetka Community House.
Bring the whole family to the Holiday Sing at The Winnetka Community House on Sunday, December 10 at 2pm. All are welcome!
Also on Sunday, December 10th, vocalist Petra Van Nuis will be singing jazz for the holidays at the Winnetka-Northfield Public Library’s Northfield Glass Room. Register here.
Tuesday December 12th your 4-10 year old can make a gingerbread house, from 5pm-6pm. Register with the Winnetka Park District.
Dads, on Friday, December 15th, from 6:30-8pm, you are invited to a special holiday outing with your 4-10 year old daughter(s) at The Winnetka Community House. “Glitzy Girlz Holiday Memory Night” is a perfect chance to ‘shop’ together for mom! (You will make and wrap beautiful gifts!) Info here.
Skate With Santa (and sleigh rides on ice!) at the Winnetka Ice Arena, Saturday December 16th from 1:40-2:55. More info at The Winnetka Park District.
Come aboard the Winnetka Winter Express on Saturday, December 16th or Sunday December 17th. Board the magical ride from the Hubbard Woods Train Station. A truly magical experience made possible by The Winnetka Park District.
The entire community is invited to the 100th Annual Winter Music Festival performed by the New Trier High School Music Department. The concert is Sunday, December 17th, 3pm at Gate’s Gym, at the Winnetka Campus. This afternoon of song and music is not to be missed! The incredible young singers and musicians will bring joy to even the Grinchiest Grinch!
Join your friends and neighbors on Christmas Eve, Sunday December 24th at 6pm on the Village Green for The Holiday Sing. Bring your own candles (or flashlights) and light up The Green with voices raised in song.
The Winnetka Ice Arena is open Christmas Day, Monday December 25th from 12-2. Come skate!
